Game Wrap 5/10/2014: Dodgers 6 Giants 2

For awhile, it looked like the Giants might be on their way to their 3'rd win in a row in their 4 game showdown with their division rivals to the south.  In the end, they could not add on to their 2-0 lead over Zach Greinke and the Dodgers came back to score 2 runs each in the 6'th, 7'th and 8'th innings and won going away.  Key Lines:

Hunter Pence- 1 for 4, 2B, SF.  BA= .252.   Pence had the only XBH of the game for the Giants and it did not figure into the scoring.  The Giants had a total of 8 hits, 4 BB's and a HBP and came out of it with just the 2 runs.

Buster Posey= 3 for 4, BB.   BA= .300.  Again, it's great to get on base and all, but the other half of OPS is SLG%, not that Buster does not do his fair share of slugging.

Matt Cain- 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 4.25.  Cain had a shutout through 5, but loaded the bases with no outs in the 6'th and was pulled for Jeremy Affeldt.  Affeldt got the DP groundball on his first batter, but then gave up a single to bring in the second run.  Affledt got into trouble again in the 7'th and 2 more runs scored and you knew it was over at that point.

The Loss decreased the Giants lead in the NL West to 1 game over the Rockies, 3.5 over the Dodgers, 6.5 over the Padres and 10 games over the last place D'Backs as the rest of the division won all their games.

Tim Hudson tries to bring the Giants back to SF as winners of the 4 game set with the Dodgers as he faces Clayton Kershaw in today's game.

  1. im not sure why bochy pushed cain past the 5th, coming off the dl with a rested pen that probably wont need to be used with huddy going today

pen was due for a bad game, just too bad it happened against la

doc, remember when you were praising the dodgers pen? well, with that win, their pen is now 5-10....that is downright terrible

with belt gone for 2 months, pablo has gotta step up...if he cant, the org is gonna have to make a move

i didnt get the move to bring up colvin...even if they are gonna give morse the majority of starts at first

anyway...i only expected a split in los angeles....a 6-4 road trip is good

who knows...maybe huddy can beat kershaw....that should send the bums reeling

    1. I'm glad the LA pen is struggling, but I don't expect it to last all year. They have arms coming out their ears. Donnie doesn't know how to manage a pen, but in the long run, I expect talent to carry the day. Enjoy the Bums pen struggles while we can.

    2. Saw a surprising stat that the LA pen is one of the league leaders in innings pitched. Maybe that's part of the reason for their struggles. That should change once they get Kershaw back.
