Down on the Farm: 5/11/2014

AAA  Reno Aces trumped the Fresno Grizzlies 6-2:

Gary Brown(CF)- 2 for 4, SB(6).  BA= .276.
Andrew Susac(Catcher)- 1 for 4, HR(4).  BA= .333.
Jose DePaula(LHP)- 4.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 2 K.  ERA= 3.48.
Brett Bochy(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K.  ERA= 2.65.

AA  Game 1  Richmond Flying Squirrels topped the Erie Seawolves 5-3:

Ryan Lollis(LF)- 1 for 3, HR(1).  BA= .186.
Ty Blach(LHP)- 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 3 K.  ERA= 2.23.

Lollis HR was a Grand Slam.

AA  Game 2  Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Erie Seawolves 6-3:

Matt Duffy(SS)- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(1).  BA= .320.
Devin Harris(LF)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .225.
Jack Snodgrass(LHP)- 5 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 2 K.  ERA= 1.80.
Derek Law(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K, Save(9).  ERA= 2.35.

I could have sworn Matt Duffy had a HR before today's game, but he's having a great season, nonetheless.

High A  San Jose Giants whitewashed the Inland Empire 66'ers 9-0:

Blake Miller(SS)- 2 for 3, 2B, BB, SF.  BA= .308.
Mitch Delfino(3B)- 3 for 5, 2B.  BA= .322.
Chuckie Jones(RF)- 2 for 3, BB.  BA= .220.
Elliott Blair(LF)- 4 for 4, SB(5).  BA= .317.
Joe Kurrasch(LHP)- 7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K.  ERA= 1.26.
Tyler Rogers(RHP)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K.  ERA= 3.24.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets beat the Hickory Crawdads 9-4:

Cristian Paulino(CF)- 2 for 4, SB(10).  ERA= .267.
Ryder Jones(SS)- 2 for 5, HR(1).  BA= .264.
Tyler Horan(RF)- 1 for 4, HR(3).  BA= .319.
Eugene Escalante(LF)- 2 for 3, 2 2B, BB.  BA= .143.
Christian Jones(LHP)- 7.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K.  ERA= 3.58.

Escalante was drafted as a catcher, but played LF in this one.  Ryder Jones is having a solid season so far and the move to SS helps his value as a prospect.  Not sure if the Giants see him as more likely to stick at SS than Arroyo, but it would appear they do.

  1. Two walks in 1 inning for D. Law - that doesn't happen often.

  2. I feel like the Giants lost patience with Duvall at 3B and are going to sell him as a power 1B prospect. Your thoughts?

    1. I might be completely wrong but part of me thinks that if Gregor or Arias (both are going to be getting turns in the starting lineup) don't produce for the next 1-2 weeks, the Giants might bring up Duvall and play him as a 1B, keep Morse in OF?

      Thats just my guess

Looks like you were right with your earlier comment, Doc- Duffy seems to be thumbing his nose at the Eastern rep.
