It's a good Christmas to be a Giants fan. Hate to say it, but Peace on Earth and Good Will among people are in mighty short supply these days. That needs to change! Us Giants fans can at least be thankful to have a great team in a great ballpark in a great city run by a very able and classy organization. I'll probably post something later today after all the festivities and family stuff is done. I just have my immediate family plus my mother who lives near us. That keeps it all very simple.
Pray for Peace!

Thank you for the kind words and thanks for reading. I lived in Vancouver, WA for 4 years in the early 70's. I used to try to listen to games on the radio after dark when radio transmissions from far away would come in. It was kind of more trouble than it was worth. My mom subscribed to the afternoon Portland, OR newspaper and I would look up the boxscores. The Giants weren't very good in those days.
DeleteYes. Vancouver is a neat place. We are in the Tacoma area. On occasion we can get KNBR after dark up here. Good stuff. Originally from Modesto, so started out an A's fan (Joe Rudi, Reggie, Sal Bando, Catfish & Vida). Grandpa was a Giants fan - loved Mays & McCovey, so I did as well. Now my son follows the G-Men. They clinched in 2010 on his 20th birthday. Go Giants!

I just remember it rained all the time up there except when is snowed and that was truly miserable. The wind would blow from the east and you'd get these little tiny snowflakes that blew horizontal and if you tried to drive in it, you'd just kick up a cloud of snow. Everybody had studded tires and they wore grooves in the roads and freeways. One winter I counted over 40 consecutive days of rain! It's beautiful country for all 26 days out of the year when you can actually see it!
DeleteThe joke I remember is you can always predict the weather in Portland, OR: If you can see Mt. Hood, it's going to rain. If you can't, it already is!
Anyway, sorry for the rant if you like it up there. Let's just say there's a reason why I'm back in California.
No worries. I like th esun, but it doesn't like me. My wife is from Hawaii, though, so the rain often is a topic of discussion here.

Hey, great to see another "NW" attached to a handle around here. I moved from Seattle down to LA just a couple years ago, and I miss the place like crazy. However, my first year in LA (2010) I did spend January 1st on the beach, and it was like 65 degrees out and sunny. No substitute for that!
DeleteAs far as I'm concerned, the Giants rule the west coast. SF hats everywhere I go, including all over SoCal. However, being back up in the Bay for the holidays it's just a gas to see the Orange SF pride everywhere I go.
Happy Holidays Doc, and thanks for all you do. Lovin it.
