Scouting the 2020 Draft: Cole Henry

Cole Henry RHP, College(LSU).  6'4", 210 lbs.

4-2, 3.39, 58.1 IP, 18 BB, 72 K.

Another sophomore eligible college RHP with almost perfect size for a pitcher.  Son of a former minor league pitcher, Jim Henry, whose career was derailed by injuries.  Cole throws both a 4 and 2-seam FB in the mid-90's.  He's been working on a changeup since he was 9 years old and shows a sharply downward breaking ball.  Ranked in the Competitive Balance Round of the 2018 draft, he fell to round 38 due to bonus demands and chose the college route at LSU.  He missed fall practice with a stress reaction in his arm.  His freshman season got off to a rough start, but he gradually worked his way into the weekend rotation.  He then missed several games with a sore elbow but recovered in time to pitch in the college baseball postseason.  His biggest challenge is probably staying healthy.  If he does, he has the stuff to jump into the first round and a big enough bonus to make him skip his junior season.
