Gerelmi Maldonado RHP- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's, 4/1 GO/AO.  ERA= 4.30.

I don't expect many promotions before the draft but it seems like it might be almost time to bump Bo Davidson to AA with Dakota Jordan replacing him in CF in Eugene.

Rookie ACL:  The complex leagues were idle on Sunday as usual.

  1. Bad day for us: 0-5, from A to MLB...
But there were some bright spots which could win promotions in the minor leagues and maybe a Player of the Week for Heliot Ramos!

  2. Walker Martin got 4 base on balls yesterday. He matched his season total with that game.

  3. We definitely want to wait longer before we promote Davidson and Jordan. We don’t want to be making the Farhan mistake here. Let them prove they can sustain good numbers over a larger sample size. They don’t have enough plate appearances yet where you could argue it’s a large sample size. Still small sample size. They have nothing to lose by keeping them where they are at currently. By prematurely promoting them, they could quickly hit a wall. That’s very realistic to happen especially considering they’re barely over 100 at bats, which is a small sample size considering how long seasons are. Small enough sample size for them to get cold or hit a wall and stumble. Remember, baseball is a marathon not a race. We don’t need to be racing these guys up levels every time they do good over 100 at bats. Need patience

    1. I agree with the basic theory of here but I also think you have to look at individual players. A ball is an extremely conservative placement for a top 10 round draft pick out of college. Jordan has all the tools but the worry was could he hit professional pitching. Well, he is hitting well so why not bump him up to the expected level for a prospect of his profile? As for Davidson, raked last season for San Jose and also has all the tools. If he stayed at A+ for a full season would he finish at .350? Probably not but right now he isn't really being challenged so why not give him a head start on where you want him to be by the end of next season? Let him get the extra PA's at a level that is likely to be more of a challenge?

    2. Agreed… let’s allow the coaches and managers to make the call based not only on numbers but on intangibles. Not saying they’re on the level of a Juan Soto (we can only hope) but that kind of player races through the minors because keeping them at the same level doesn’t serve as much of a benefit as challenging them.

  4. Thomas Gavello in parts of 3 seasons in A+ did not do well, but has a hot start in AA. Is it believable?
