Eric Cerantola RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 5.59.

If Bo Davidson is as advertised and what he appears to be, he should be finishing his development in a Giants uniform no later than early next season.

AA:  Chesapeake Baysox downed the Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-2.

Trevor Cohen CF- 1 for 3, 2 BB, SB(13).  BA= .303.
Charlie Szykowny 1B- 1 for 3, HR(13), BB.  BA= .251.
Jack Choate LHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 3.27.

Cam Maldonado is doing about the same in A+ as he was with the A SJ Giants.

A:  San Jose Giants quieted the Lake Elsinore Storm 9-2.

Josuar Gonzalez SS- 2 for 5, SB(4).  BA= .343.
Jeremiah Jenkins 1B- 1 for 5, HR(16).  BA= .243.
Tanner Mally RF- 1 for 3, HBP, SB(2).  BA= .389.

Cooper McGrath RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 6.52.

Andy Polanco is an interesting prospect.  He is not close to being ready to play in the major leagues but there is something there with the speed and long levers if he can get a little stronger and get his arms in enough to get around on inside fastballs.  Can a player look athletic and uncoordinated at the same time?

DSL:  Blue Jays Blue beat Giants Oranges 8-5(7 innnings).

Israel Alphonse SS(17 yo)- 1 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .321.
Jeyson Moya DH(19 yo)- 4 for 4, 2 2B.  BA= .232.

  1. Ah yes, the tantalizing glimpses of Ryan Walker being unhittable and actually throwing strikes in AAA again. Maybe we can “iron him out” and turn him into a lotto ticket prospect next year.

  2. One interesting thing from last night was that LISBEL DIAZ , following a great year in A+, was promoted to Richmond where he went 1-4.

With possibly the worst OF in MLB, it's good to see talent percolating to the top with COX and HILL in SF, DAVIDSON and BANDURA doing real well in SAC, and now DIAZ joining COHEN in Richmond with plenty more to come from below.

Bo Davidson (and Bandura too) at 24 /25 are very , very exciting with the combo of speed and power (Davidson) but I am even more intrigued with DIAZ who is 3 -4 years younger then Davidson and Bandura and also has the great combo of size, speed and power.

Thank God for the minors this year with the dreck (outside of Eldridge and Schmidt and Webb) in SF.

  3. Spring training I’m looking forward to seeing for the young pitchers next year. Assuming we get a spring training. Whiz has the ceiling of a number 3 or 4. Obviously he’s got a lot to work on and isn’t quite there yet and there’s no guarantee he will get there, like all pitchers. But he’s still only 25, he’s a tall lefty and he’s got one of the best change ups in the game. He’s already proven he shouldn’t be in AAA. Maybe he will be a reliever but I see him as a back end rotation young guy that can potentially get in the 4.00 ERA somewhere next year along with Trevor McDonald (if he was healthy) and then get better from there. Reggie Crawford said he will be back throwing in the spring, he said in the SJ mercury news that he is confident he can still throw triple digits. To me he’s the only guy in our system with true closers stuff. Birdsong will be back and competing for a rotation spot and is a fallback bullpen option, maybe even a dark horse closer candidate. Randy Rodriguez I was never impressed with in the minors so I feel like he’s not as good as a lot of giants fans think he is, but he will be back next year and he was a good bullpen piece for us his rookie year and definitely can strike people out, though personally I don’t think he’s closer material. Then throw in Blade Tidwell and Tugboat, two guys that absolutely for either rotation potential or bullpen potential. Trent Harris has potential to be a solid bullpen guy. Carson Seymour im hoping can find a role in the bullpen before he is DFA’d (for some reason he looks similar to Robb Nenn to me a little bit which just makes me want him to be a good reliever for us even more). Joe Whitman should get added to the 40-man roster this off-season and while I don’t view him as a guy that’s going to be successful in the bigs anytime soon, maybe being a lefty reliever would make it so he could help the big league club quicker? With his minor league numbers it would be shocking if he did well in the MLB rotation. Lalane is going to be on the 40-man roster and in AA next year. Bresnahan and Ramon Marquez also in AA. All guys who are dominating who if they continue to dominate in AA next year then they are just a knock away from the bigs. Miguel Mendez has a chance to be in our bullpen early next year. A lot to look forward to on the horizon

  4. Cam Maldonado is nearly having a 20/20 season in 329 at bats. He’s ar 18 home runs and 19 stolen bases. That’s very impressive and I’m kind of shocked he’s not on at least the last 5th of the giants top 30 prospect lists. There are several players near the end on MLB pipelines top 30 giants prospects lost who I would replace for him

  5. Season is coming to an end but any chance we see Josuar in A+ this year (for the playoffs maybe)? He seems to be obliterating low A.

    1. Maybe for a few games if/when the season is extended by playoffs but I think Josuar has done quite enough this year. Start next season in A+.

  6. Native born San Franciscan and Forever Giant Willie McGee looked awkward and gawky, but man was he a good player in all phases of the game. Polanco looks like a stick figure in the field and at bat but he obviously has some skills- hopefully he can add some muscle and refine his talents.
