Game Wrap 6/10/2026: Giants 11 Nationals 10

The Giants scored 10 runs over the final two innings capped by a walk-off grand slam home run by Bryce Eldridge to end a wild afternoon game at Oracle Park.  Key Lines:

Luis Arraez 2B- 2 for 5, 2B, R.  BA= .327.  Another day at the office for Arraez.

Matt Chapman 3B- 4 for 5, 2B, 2 HR(6), 3 R, 3 RBI.  BA= .262.  Huge day for Chapman as he continues his power surge.

Rafael Devers 1B- 1 for 4, HR(9), BB, 2 R, RBI.  BA= .233.  Other batters had bigger days but every run counted in this one.

Jung Hoo Lee RF- 2 for 4, BB, 2 R.  BA= .338.  Otto Lopez is 2 for 4 today and raised is BA to .343.

Bryce Eldridge DH- 1 for 4, HR(4), BB, 2 R, 4 RBI.  BA= .298.  A Star Is Born!  Youngest player in MLB history to hit a walk-off grand slam(Roberto Clemente previously held the record).

Daniel Susac C- 2 for 4, 2B, R, RBI.  BA= .309.  Susac cooled off from his unsustainable start but is still an upgrade over Bailey.

Robbie Ray LHP- 5.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.42.  Ray was having one of his better starts allowing 2 runs over the first 5 innings.  Then, with 2 outs in the 6'th inning, he allowed three straight hits and another run.  Carson Seymour came in and promptly allowed the two inherited runs to score.  Seymour would go on to allow one of his own runs to score then 3 more in the 7'th to put the Giants behind 9-1, a seemingly insurmountable deficit.

Reiver Sanmartin LHP- 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, 3/0 GO/AO.  ERA= 4.50.  Not a great line but the best of the afternoon for Giants pitchers.

The Giants get tomorrow off at home to regroup.  They start a weekend series Friday against the Cubs with TBD facing TBD.

  1. Bryce is still just 21 yo. I don’t think he has received the recognition he deserves for what he has accomplished (minor leagues included) and the immense potential he projects. I wasn’t sure he was ready but I was wrong- I always believed in his potential but he is so young with such a large frame to sync up, I thought it would take longer. A star is born indeed!

  2. Wow, just wow. What a comeback! Especially after the shenanagins of the lst two games. Special tip of the hat to Jung Hoe Lee and Matt Chapman on their extended make me eat crow heaters and, of course. ELDRIDGE who is looking might special....I bolted when it was 9-1! Found out 4 hours later they won!!! Reminded me of a game long ago in the 70's when the Giants were being destroyed by the Dodgers late.. something like 9-1..I gave up listening to all the games..Found out the next day the Giants won o na wlk off Grand Slam by BOBBY BONDS!!.

  3. Unbelievable! Listened to the game off and on at work. 10 runs in the last 2 innings, ending in Eldridge walk off grand slam! Listened to Jon Miller's great call of the Eldridge Homer again, and thought his call captured the moment perfectly! It sure made it a happy day at work!

  4. Eldridge has proven he can catch up to and square up inside pitches, which will always be the assumed weakness of long, tall players. I’m also really impressed by his willingness just to go the opposite way and not try to do too much, even with all that power. I think we will start to see new offspeed combos to him as teams try to respond to his early success, as that was one of his early scouted weaker areas a couple years back. Only issue is: a miss up with some slower pitches and he’s got McCovey Cove power and some to spare.

My only quibble with him today: he barely hit that GS out of the park but he stood and admired it a bit. Down 3 with the bases loaded in that situation is not the time to stand and watch - get your head down and get going, young man.

  5. More than anything I am impressed by Bryce’s maturity and attitude. The tools were undeniable but to see him develop this quickly is quite frankly astonishing. I’m not with the team but I bet he is working as hard as anyone behind the scenes studying pitchers and working on his weaknesses. At only 21 years old I wouldn’t believe it if I wasn’t watching it with my own eyes! The at bats have been really good for weeks and the results are really impressive!
