Landen Roupp pitched a Quality Start but in a familiar story line, the bullpen couldn't hold a lead and the lineup struggled to score in the later innings. Key Lines:
Rafael Devers DH- 2 for 3, HR(11), BB, R, RBI. ERA= .244. Marlins Park is a tough place to hit and it showed in multiple warning track outs. Much as we have criticized Devers, he is the one guy on this team who can muscle one out of pretty much any park. His solo HR got the Giants tied the score in the 6'th inning. Bryce Eldridge will probably grow into that kind of hitter but he's not quite there yet.
Jung Hoo Lee RF- 2 for 4, 2B, SB(4). BA= .328. Lee has turned into quite the hit machine. He still trails Otto Lopez, who went 1 for 4, by .006 in the batting race.
Casey Schmitt LF- 2 for 4, RBI. BA= .286. Fourth 2-hit game in a row for Casey Schmitt.
Daniel Susac C- 1 for 3, SF, RBI. BA= .287. Susac just missed a grand slam HR when the Marlins LF caught his drive just above the short 7-foot wall in LF. Willy Adames scored the Giants first run on the Sac Fly.
Landen Roupp RHP- 6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 7 K's, 7/3 GO/AO. ERA= 4.15. A rare Quality Start for Giants SP's.
Sam Hentges- 0.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 0 K. ERA= 2.84. Hentges got the 7'th inning with a 3-2 lead and couldn't hold it. The Giants lineup was not able to come back.
Trevor McDonald RHP tries to even the series tomorrow facing Max Meyer RHP who comes in with a 7-0 record and a 2.75 ERA. Meyer is a former first round draft pick, #3 overall, in 2020. If you want great homegrown pitching, you have to be willing to draft it in the first round. Reminder that Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum and Madison Bumgarner were all first round draft picks for the Giants.
