Down on the Farm: 6/20/2026

AAA:  Oklahoma City Comets shut out the Sacramento River Cats 6-0.

Heliot Ramos DH- 2 for 4.  BA= .385.

Tidwell's start not unlike McDonald's at the MLB level.  Giants have some tough decisions to make when Ramos comes off the IL.  Cole Irvin is a MLB SP who had a couple of good seasons with the A's who is now a depth piece stashed at AAA for the Dodgers.

This was Bresnahan's best start of the season so far by a wide margin.

Dennys Riera 3B(21 yo)- 3 for 5, 2B.  BA= .348.
Diego Alambarrio C(18 yo)- 1 for 4, 2B, 2 BB.  BA= .310.
Boris Sarduy RF(19 yo)- 2 for 3, 2B, 2 BB, SB(5).  BA= .353.
Hector Dos Santos RHP(20 yo)- 2.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 1.35.
Carlos Toro RHP(20 yo)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 4.05.

The Giants drew 12 walks in this game plus 6 HBP's.  Giants pitchers issued 9 walks.

Jose Valdez DH(17 yo)- 2 for 3, 2B, BB, SB(4).  BA= .273.
Kendry Castro RHP(19 yo)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.80.
Jose Treviso RHP)(18 yo)- 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 4.91.

Valdez is one of the few kids under 18 yo performing well in the DSL for the Giants this season.  Reminder the Giants concentrated their international $$$$ on Luis Hernandez who is playing in the ACL.

  1. Is this Barkett kid under the radar or what? Not a surprise after a spectacular start to the year, he seems to be wearing down, but still puts together a 3 for 4 game.
A bit old for A league, he'll be fun to watch moving up to A+ next year.
How do born-and-raised Florida boys do in Oregon? Perhaps he should finish 2026 there, and if he survives, go to Richmond next year.

    1. IMO players drafted out of college in 2025 should not spend more than a half season at A level in 2026. The problem is with the downsized minor leagues there just aren't enough roster spots to go around so if you move them up to an age-appropriate level, it creates some tough decisions.

  2. 1. Time to end the “Tidwell is a starter” experiment. He looks like he can be a quality reliever, but he’s not a starter.

    2. Who had Trevor Cohen outhitting Gavin Kilen on the bingo card?

  3. Trevor Cohen is very intriguing. Very interesting scouting profile going into the draft. Elite hitter with speed just no pop. Elite plate discipline with really good K/BB ratios. And then combine that with the success he had in a small sample size last year and the success this year. Obviously there will be questions about hit MLB fit due to the lack of pop. Time will tell if he will develop power or not and if his hit tool is legit enough to play in the MLB. Bresnahan started off slow last year too before going on a hot streak. Lastly, I’m praying that Reggie Crawford ends up as a pitcher still at some point. I read that the plan was to still use him as a pitcher but they were taking it slow with him and I guess he’s not ready to resume throwing so they are having him hit. Dude is a 6’5 lefty with around 62 strike outs in like 37 in innings in the minors. The problem is that the 37 innings are spread over like 5 years because he’s super injury prone. So most likely he doesn’t work out in the long run because of his injuries. But still, I’m rooting for him as our closer
