  1. Could be a big deal if Harber can play an MLB level CF.

  2. "....the Luis Arraez trade..." LOL
He will be a GREAT addition to some contender, gotta hope Buster gets a good return.

  3. I noticed the same thing (Harber playing CF). I will be happy if he can play a corner OF.

  4. I hope Bo gets the Sacramento call up as July nears

  5. If I were Buster I would concede 2027 right now and not hold back on the rebuild before the deadline. This means Logan Webb and anyone not named Bryce is on sale. Goal would be to compete in 2028 so build up the Pen and develop SP’s over the next year and a half until the prospects get here.

    A few options could be:
-Ramos to Philly for one of their young bullpen arms

-Chapman and Webb to the Yankees for a package centered around Lagrange and maybe Jones or Dominguez. May need to take on a bad contract or send some $ to even things.

-Arraez and Ray to the highest bidders for whatever you can get hopefully young pitching.

Keep everyone else for now and go into next year with Roupp, McDonald, Whisenhunt, Houser, and probably Tidwell or Tugboat in the rotation and dump all our FA money into closers and high leverage bullpen arms. Could even sign Arraez back and the lineup would be competitive. If starters only had to go 5 innings we might be able to get away with the young starters we have if we had 3 closers and 2 more ligit set up arms waiting to close the door starting in the 6th inning. Could probably sign 3 closers in the offseason for the price of one good starter

    1. As much as I'd like to do Webb the favor of giving him a chance with a contender, it would take a whole lot more or better than Lagrange and scraps to move him. Webb is a legitimate ace on a favorable contract. Nor would I move him just to get rid of Chapman.

  6. i've seen Harber in AA and it is kind of mind blowing he's played a game or games in CF as he appeared to be a wee bit speed challenged. maybe i wasn't paying close enough attention.

  7. St. Louis Cardinals are in the race for a playoff spot and need help at 3B. They have two competitive round B selections, #68 and #72. We trade Chapman and salary adjustment cash for those picks.

    1. Now that is attractive. Did the Cardinals have any unattractive contracts that could be taken on in partial offset?

    2. YES, and hope the Giants pick good...
Not exactly something SF have done well since the aughts

    3. You're giving a lot of credit to the Giants to make good picks.
It may well be better to trade for good minor leaguers.

    4. The Giants are better off trading for proven prospects like Buster did last year at the deadline.

    5. Larry Baer says the organization is putting a lot of effort into making the fourth pick right. Analytics and scouting is involved and even getting to know the families.

  8. Since the Giants picked Zack Wheeler in 2009 (43.8 WAR), their best 1st round picks were Joe Panik in 2011 (5.5 WAR) and Patrick Bailey in 2020 (3.7 WAR), and all 3 of them were traded off, Wheeler before ever taking the mound for SF.
Bryce Eldridge needs less than a 6 career WAR to be 1st and he's already close to 1.0.
Trade the surplus for proven recruits, not for competitive round picks no matter how high they are.
And that includes Webb if the return is substantial enough, at least in the top 50, should look for someone's #1, but that may be a reach without including another good player..

    1. For all those who hope the Giants trade Webb for a haul of prospects there was an article in The Athletic a few days ago about the likely Giants trade options by Ken Rosenthal. In it he said there is one source (I’m assuming in the industry and not with the Giants) who said the Giants are NOT interested in trading Webb at all.

    2. I have never said I think the Giants will trade Webb. I don't think they will. I think they SHOULD trade him IF they can get at least one MLB-ready top prospect in return.
