DrB's 2026 Giants Top 50 Prospects: Honorable Mention(A)

Lorenzo Meola SS.  DOB:  12/17/2003.  B-R, T-R.  5', 11", 172 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2028.

2025(College- Stetson):  .329/.406/.536, 11 HR, 10 SB, 11.3 BB%, 18.0 K%, 256 PA.
2025(A):  .273/.314/.470, 3 HR 3 SB, 5.7 BB%, 24.3 K%, 70 PA.

Giants 11'th round draft pick in 2025.  MLB Pipeline says he's a true shortstop with plus range and a strong arm.  Hit fairly well while flashing some power in limited action at the end of the season.  Giants may have some sorting out to do between Maui Ahuna, Jhonny Level and Meola at the A San Jose and A+ Eugene levels.

Dario Reynoso 3B. DOB:  3/22/2005.  B-R, T-R.  5' 10", 180 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2027.

2025(ACL):  .298/.442/.556, 10 HR, 18 SB, 17.6 BB%, 31.7 K%, 227 PA.
2025(A):  .128/.281/.191, 2 SB, 17.5 BB%, 38.6 K%, 57 PA.

Not much of a scouting report.  Going by his stat lines it looks like he has an interesting power/speed combination with extraordinary walk rates which may contribute to his >30% K rates.  Profile tends to not play at higher levels so needs to get that K rated down somehow, probably at the cost of a lower walk rate.

Cam Maldonado OF.  DOB:  11/8/2003.  B-R, T-R.  6' 3", 200 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2028.

2025(College-Northeastern):  .351/.467/.631, 15 HR, 29 SB, 15.4 BB%, 18.8 K%, 272 PA.
2025(A):  .237/.352/.339, 5 SB, 15.5 BB%, 25.4 K%, 71 PA.

Giants 7'th round draft pick in 2025.  Scouting report says power and speed combination with speed being the standout tool and enough to pay CF.  Some swing and miss concerns at the plate.  Got off to a slow start in his pro debut with A San Jose but hit well in September and in the Cal League postseason.  Played RF in deference to 3'rd round draft pick, Trevor Cohen who is also a CF.

Jose Ortiz OF.  DOB:  2/13/2005.  B-R, T-R.  5' 11", 165 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2027.

2025(A):  .308/.438/.365, 2 SB, 10.6 BB%, 18.2 K%, 66 PA.

13'th round draft pick in 2023.  Got off to a blazing start to the 2025 season batting .344/.475/.406 when he went down with what looked like a very bad looking hammy in a game I attended in Rancho Cucamonga.  He played 5 games in the ACL in May and then 8 games in the ACL and A San Jose in July before going back on the IL for the rest of the season.  So, despite promising minor league numbers he's only had 240 career professional PA's over 3 seasons.  His biggest challenge for 2026, obviously, is to prove he can stay healthy.

Jeremiah Jenkins 1B.  DOB:  5/5/2003.  B-L, T-L.  6' 4", 238 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec 2027.

2025(ACL):  .370/.470/.685, 3 HR, 15.2 BB%, 13.6 K%, 66 PA.
2025(A):  .230/.332/.364, 4 HR, 11.1 BB%, 17.5 K%, 217 PA.

Giants 14'th round draft pick in 2024.  Big lefty first baseman shows a nice combination of plate discipline and contact with some power.  Got a late start on his 2025 season appearing in his first game on 5/15.  It's a tough demographic to succeed in.  Probably needs to show something at A+ level in 2026 to remain a viable prospect.

  1. Sorry to be get far off topic, and this isn't more interesting nor more important than being informed of possible future Giants.
Just this: the rich get richer and then there's everyone else.
With the Blue Jays signing Kazuma Okamoto, Toronto moves into Roster Resource's #2 for projected 2026 luxury tax payroll, $31M behind our #1 rival down south. That's only one well-paid player.
Another perspective: The Giants roughly $100M behind the Jays.
When a low payroll team gets into the WS, it's usually because they had some very good drafts years before. And some good luck.
    Rant over.

  3. McCoveyChron had a great breakdown of Giants payroll lately. It made me think if ownership intends to even scrape close to luxury tax?

They had quite a bit of headroom last year and seem to still admire similar restraint.

If I am allowed to be snarky our ownership preaches fiscal discipline when it comes to investing in a competitive baseball team, but somehow finds no difficulty opening the checkbook for racist and anti-democratic political candidates. Apparently austerity is only a virtue when it applies to baseball but not when it comes to civic virtue.

I really think it’s time for the Johnson’s to divest so we can get a more representative ownership head for San Francisco. Someone like Bill Neukom, who if I recall was ousted because he wanted to reinvest the profits back into the team.

  4. A few comments: 1. Based on what I've read about them, I am not at all sad or sorry the Giants did not sign Imai or Okamoto. 2. There is no indication the Giants are done adding players or payroll for the offseason. 3. The Hot Stove League basically stalled out and most of the signings so far have been by a handful of teams. More and more this is looking like a market Buster can afford to let come to him. We'll have to wait and see if he takes advantage. 4. I am so, so sick of reading rants about ownership's unwillingness to spend money. If they were unwilling to spend money they would not have let Buster make the Devers trade. I can think of several very good baseball reasons why they would not want to add another 10-figure contract at this time starting with you don't want a roster full of 6+ year contracts all aging in lockstep.
