DrB's 2026 Giants Top 50 Prospects: Dominican Dandies

The Dominican Dandies list includes players who performed well in the DSL and or have promising scouting reports.  They do not include top ranked international prospects Josuar Gonzalez SS and Luis Hernandez SS who are so highly rated they made the Top 50 list.  After further review, I removed Alfonso Perez from the original list.

Evan Estevez OF/1B.  DOB:  8/14/2007.  B-R, T-R.  6' 3", 165 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2028 2025(DSL):  .263/.381/.436, 4 HR, 12 SB, 14.4 BB%, 27.9 K%, 215 PA.

I thought he might move up to ACL after a pretty good age 16 season but stayed for a second DSL season and improved all his numbers except BA.  Should move up in 2026.  Love the size.  Don't love that he seems to be moving in the direction of 1B.

Yosneiker Rivas 2B.  DOB:  10/6/2005.  B-L, T-R.  5' 10", 161 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2027. 2025(DSL):  .315/.412/.462, 2 HR, 6 SB, 11.0 BB%, 16.9 K%, 172 PA.

A third DSL season is usually a career-dooming but Rivas put up an excellent season after being more proactive at the plate.  Was it good enough to get him to Arizona?

Yohendry Sanchez C.  DOB:  11/9/2006.  B-R, T-R.  6' 0", 207 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2028 2025(DSL):  .275/.359/.394, 1 HR, 10.6 BB%, 13.5 K%, 170 PA.

Received a higher signing bonus than Jhonny Level in 2024 but barely played in his signing year.  Scouting reports have always had him as more of a defensive catcher with plus leadership skills.  Showed a bit of a hit tool but with little power.  Should move up to the ACL.

Leandro Rodriguez LHP.  DOB:  11/15/2005.  6' 1", 185 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible ? 2025(DSL):  4-3, 2.41, 41 IP, 10.10 K/9, 4.17 BB/9

Google AI says he has a good fastball, developing slider and north-south curveball.  It says he needs a changeup and better command of the slider.

Brayan Narvaez RHP.  DOB:  10/20/2004.  6' 2", 175 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2027. 2025(DSL): 1-0, 2.49, 47 IP, 7.66 K/9, 2.30 BB/9.

Fangraphs says he was one of the organization's more exciting DSL pitchers in 2024 with whippy, explosive arm action and room to get stronger.  After three DSL seasons he really needs to move up to remain a viable prospect.

Alberto Laroche RHP.  DOB:  12/1/2005.  5' 11", 171 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2028.  2025(DSL):  1-3, 2.11, 38.1 IP, 7.98 K/9, 1.41 BB/9, 2.32 GB/FB.

MLB Pipeline has Laroche as the 19'th best prospect in the Giants organization on the strength of an "explosive" sinker.  He also throws a 4-seamer, tight slider and has feel for a changeup.  I thought about including him in the Top 50 based on this glowing scouting report but that would violate my time-honored methodology.  He'll be in the top 50 in due time if he repeats those numbers in the ACL.

Frainer Mejias RHP.  DOB:  1/10/2006.  6' 1", 170 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible ? 2025(DSL):  5-1, 4.01, 33.2 IP, 8.02 K/9, 4.54 BB/9.

Not sure why he stayed in the DSL after an apparent breakout year in 2024.  Regressed in 2025 so future is a bit cloudy.

Carlos Concepcion OF.  DOB:  1/6/2006.  B-R, T-R.  6', 1", 189 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2027. 2025(DSL):  .282/.372/.497, 6 HR, 10.7 BB%, 27 K%, 196 PA.

I was surprised he wasn't promoted to Arizona after a pretty good age 17 season in 2023. He regressed in 2024 but bounced back with more power in 2025.  Led the Dominican Dandies in HR's.

Yulian Barreto 2B.  DOB:  9/20/2007.  B-R, T-R.  5' 10", 175 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2029. 2025(DSL):  .322/.449/.394, HR, 9 SB, 15.9 BB%, 14.5 K%, 227 PA.

Only negative in his age 17 stat line is power.  Giants gave him a $900 K bonus so he'll get his chances.

Anthony Marquez SS.  DOB:  9/23/2006.  B-R, T-R.  5', 11", 155 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2028. 2025(DSL):  .276/.423/.362, HR, 13 SB, 18.6 BB%, 14.0 K%, 221 PA.

Fangraphs had a glowing preseason scouting report for 2025 but noted that Marquez is too skinny and needs to gain weight and strength.  Plus defensive SS.

Djean Macares OF.  DOB:  5/1/2008.  B-L, T-L.  5', 10", 175 lbs.  Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2029.  2025(DSL):  .214/.354/.286, 7 SB, 14.5 BB%, 13.0 K%, 200 PA.

Macares is from Aruba.  Physically more mature than other 17 yo international prospects.  Obviously needs to make more hard contact.  Got a $1.1 M signing bonus so will get his chances.
