Richmond moves to 28-26 in the 2nd half, just 2½ games out of 1st in the southern half of the Eastern League. The victory over Akron moves them ahead of the Rubber Ducks.
ReplyDeleteQuite a turnaround after a last place 21-46 in the 1st half, last among the entire 12-team Eastern League.
Certainly SteveVA is enjoying this!
I am! THe roster from the beginning was very weak but the influx of new players and a few players overcoming the long EL adjustment has made a huge diffeence..Have only made one game because of hip surgery and it was a bad game!. but great to see the turn around. And the next few years there should be a lot of good position players making their way up from SJ/Eugene. Looking forward to it.

I just want to make note that Parks Harber and Nate Furman did their 2-HR feats in Everett, Washington which is markedly not Reno NV where the ball flies high through the dry air.
ReplyDeleteReally liking the volume of hot bats the Giants have in the lower minors right now!
Too soon to tell: do you think the Giants are happy with their 1st round pick, Gavin Kilen? As you pointed out earlier, he has discovered that pro ball at the lowest level is not the SEC.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are happy despite that huge sample of 10 whole games.
DeleteAgree too soon to tell with Kilen but it's disheartening he went out so quickly with an injury. We have seen way too many prospect careers get derailed by a series of injuries. That's not to say Kilen's pro career is over with one injury but historically players who get injured out of the gate are much more likely to suffer future injuries that accumulate and hold back development.
DeleteWould be nice to see Furman moved up to Richmond. He's shown enough now at A+ with SF and Cleveland and would likely have been there but for what I infer was an injury, and he's 24. Tempus fugit.
ReplyDeleteI hope Bo Davidson can leave enough of an impression that he could start 2026 in Sacramento
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see the Giants call up catcher Jesus Rodriguez. Can he be a part of the Giants plans at catcher for 2026?
