2025 Season Reviews: Eugene Emeralds

I must say I still have not internalized that the Northwest League is A+ ball even though it has been for several seasons now.  The A+ Eugene Emeralds went 49-17 in the second half to finish with the best overall record in the league at 81-51.  Unfortunately they lost to the first half winners, Everett Aquasox on the championship series.  The Ems did it mainly with their hitting as they led the league in OPS by a large margin, .773 to the Vancouver Canadians .739.  They led the league in every batting category except doubles and home runs.  They weren't terrible at pitching either finishing with the second best team ERA at 4.30 to Vancouver's 3.67.

Comments:  It was probably a close call between James Tibbs III and Bo Davidson for top prospect on the team until Tibbs was traded.  Tibbs showed exceptional plate discipline and some power but at the cost of K's and lower BA's.  That pattern continued after the trade. Unfortunately he is now in the Dodgers organization.  I've always like Charlie Szykowny's bat and he had a huge power breakout in 2025.  He'll face a big hurdle in AA in 2026.  Jonah Cox has elite speed and fills up a stat line.  Strikeouts and low BA may be his limiting factors.  Dayson Croes came out of indy ball and basically nowhere to hit at multiple levels.  He's hit for a high BA everywhere he's been.  Is he for real?  Josh Bostick has a MLB pitcher's frame and showed he can dominate a game.  Can he find consistency?
