AAA Sacramento River Cats buried the Albuquerque Isotopes 13-1:
Wynton Bernard CF- 2 for 6, 2B. BA= .207.
Jae-Gyun Hwang 1B- 3 for 5, 2B, BB, SB(4). BA= .287.
Mac Williamson RF- 2 for 5, 2 HR(6). BA= .261.
Tim Federowicz C- 5 for 5, 2B, 2 HR(3). BA= .356.
Ali Castillo SS- 1 for 4, HR(1), BB. BA= .267.
Chris Stratton RHP- 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K, GO/AO= 11/2. ERA= 5.93.
Dusten Knight RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 K. ERA= 2.50.
*Hwang is hitting .326 over his last 10 games and is 7 for 16 over his last 3. Seems like the Giants really need to see what he can do at the MLB level, but what's up with him playing 1B?
*Hopefully this game helps Mac find some traction.
*I've liked Fedex all the way back to his college days at UNC. Anybody else think he might have a decent MLB career if he ever go regular AB's?
*I said Stratton was done after his last start, then he comes up with a line like this, in Albuquerque no less, which makes it all the more impressive.

AA Trenton Thunder outscored the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-5:
Slade Heathcott CF- 0 for 2, 2 BB. BA= .271.
CJ Hinojosa SS- 1 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .241.
Andrew Suarez LHP- 7 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.98.
*Suarez has just 13 BB's against 53 K's in 60 IP with a GO/AO= 1.49 on the season.
*********************************************************************************
High A Lake Elsinore Storm defeated the San Jose Giants 5-3:
Gio Brusa DH- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(9). BA= .243.
*Brusa is hitting .306 over his last 10 games. He hit .271 for the month of May.
*********************************************************************************
Low A Lexinton Legends ran away from the Augusta Greejackets 8-3:
Kelvin Beltre 2B- 2 for 3, 2B, BB, SB(3). BA= .271.
Cristian Paulino 3B- 2 for 3, BB, 3 SB(6). BA= .218.
DJ Myers RHP- 0.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 4.38.
Sandro Cabrera LHP- 3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.28.
*Myers' line looks ominous.
*Cabrera has 34 K's in 24.2 IP, on the season.
*********************************************************************************
DSL Reds beat the Giants 7-5:
Ismael Alcantara 1B- 2 for 3. BA= .667.
Ghordy Santos SS- 1 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .250.
Tough to sort out DSL games, especially early in the season. Alcantara was the only Giant with more than 1 hit. Giants were limited to $300 K signing bonus in the 2016 signing period. Alcantara and Santos both got the limit.

Game Wrap 6/32017: Phillies 5 Giants 3
If you are a young pitcher making your MLB debut, the Giants are the team you want to face. Ben Lively shut down the Giants allowing 1 run in 7 innings while stricking out…..0!? Key Lines:
Giants Lineup: No point in discussing individual performances here. 8 different Giants hitters had 1 hit each. Obviously they did not all come in 1 inning. Brandon Belt's double was the only XBH.
Johnny Cueto RHP- 6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 9 K's. ERA= 4.38. Tommy Joseph broke up Cueto's shutout in the 6'th inning. Cueto then allowed the first two batters to reach on groundball singles to open the 7'th. They both scored after Hunter Strickland was brought in to relieve.
Nick Cafardo does not think the Giants are going to be big sellers at the trade deadline, although he does say that a Cueto trade could be explored if they think he is likely to opt out. I don't know about you, but from his recent comments about the Giants clubhouse culture, I think Cueto can't wait to get out of SF. Are games like this good enough to give him some serious cache on the trade market?
Hunter Strickland RHP- 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 2.29. This line does not include the 2 inherited runners he allowed to score. Maybe Strick's mind was on his upcoming suspension appeal? Maybe he should just start serving it and get it behind him?

Game Wrap 6/2/2017: Giants 10 Phillies 0
The team with the 3'rd worse record in MLB(Giants) took on the team with the worst(Phillies). Ty Blach only needed 1 run of support but the Giants offense scored early and often and kept adding on for a runaway win. Key Lines:
Denard Span CF- 5 for 6, 2 2B. BA= .260. Kuip's keys to the game included "setting the table" and Span was apparently listening.
Eduardo Nunez 3B- 3 for 5, 2 2B, BB. BA= .288. Span and Nunez were on base a combined 9 out of 12 PA's.
Brandon Crawford SS- 1 for 3, BB, 2 SF. BA= .262. Good situational hitting by Crawford who drove in 2 with SF's.
Joe Panik 2B- 2 for 6, 2B. BA= .245. Giants could use some hot hitting from Joe Panik who has been slumping.
Austin Slater RF- 1 for 5, BB. BA= .200. Slaters first basehit drove in a run and he laters scored during the same rally. His parents and sister were watching from the front row.
Ty Blach LHP- 0 for 3, 3 BB. BA= .176. Blach showed a good eye and walked his first 3 times up to extend rallies. He struck out his last 3 AB's. Last Giants pitcher to walk 3 times in a game was Ray Sadecki.
Ty Blach LHP- 9 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 15/4. ERA= 3.24. Blach has a reputation for being a control/command pitcher. He had pinpoint command in this one and was never really threatened. He threw 112 pitches in the CG performance.

It's Johnny Cueto's turn tomorrow facing RHP Ben Lively, making his MLB debut.
Denard Span CF- 5 for 6, 2 2B. BA= .260. Kuip's keys to the game included "setting the table" and Span was apparently listening.

Roberto Gomez RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K. ERA= 5.79.
Slater was called up and will be activated for tonight's game. Giants beat writers seem to think the Giants are in full fledged youth movement mode and that Hwang, Jones and Shaw may get MLB looks in the near future. Hopefully Mac gets in a groove and gets another shot too. Crawford and Posey may be the only position players not available at the trade deadline. Gomez' ERA is 3.46 over his last 10 appearances.

Carlos Diaz LHP- 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.88.
Arenado is red hot! Krook has an ERA of 3.38 over his last 4 starts with 21 K's in 21.1 IP. He has allowed 7 BB's in 16.1 IP over his last 3 starts. Still not a great walk rate but improving.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets blanked the Lexington Legends 4-0:

Game Wrap 5/31/2017: Nationals 3 Giants 1
Ryan Zimmermann hit a 3-run HR off Matt Cain in the first inning. The Giants won the rest of the game 1-0, but that doesn't count. Key Lines:
Matt Cain- 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 6/2. ERA= 4.53. Giants starters have tended to fall behind early then pitch pretty well later in the game. Problem with that scenario is the Giants just don't have a come-from-behind offense.
Lineup- 5 different Giants had 1 hit each. 3 of the 5 hits were doubles by Nunez, Panik and Belt. That got them 1 run.
*********************************************************************************
The Giants have a travel day before starting a 3 game series in Philadelphia with Ty Blach facing Jared Eickoff in the first game tomorrow night.
