Complex teams had their standard Sunday off.
Mercedes got lit up for nine runs in 2 IP in SLC.
ReplyDeleteAn just to clarify it was Juan Mercedes who got lit up, not Manuel.
DeleteThanks
DeleteThink Bertrand will ever get his shot? Others pass him but he keeps performing in AA.
ReplyDeleteA shout out for John Michael Bertrand: Much improved since a mostlty very bad April, just one bad start (of 5) in May and a very nice June. Too many BB's but looks to be improving.
ReplyDeleteHis 2-6 record would be better with some run support.
Meanwhile, the Flying Squirrels have won 3 of 4 games, losing Saturday 1-0 managing just 4 singles.
Giants' Down on the Farm managed to split the 4 games scoring only 6 runs, managing it win whenever they scored more than 1 RUN!
ReplyDeleteDid you mention the Baby Giants clinching a playoff spot?
ReplyDeleteGoogle AI:
The San Jose Giants have won the California League North Division First Half Championship for the 2025 season.
They clinched the title with a 5-2 victory over the Modesto Nuts on June 18th.
This win secured them a spot in the playoffs.
They finished the first half with a league-best record of 42-24.
This is the sixth consecutive season the Giants have reached the postseason and the second time in the last three years winning the first half crown.
Key players who contributed to their success include Carlos Gutierrez, Jakob Christian, Dakota Jordan, and Walker Martin
The MLB draft is three weeks away. Do you have any preferences for who the Giants select? I am hoping for C/OF Irish, SS Aloy, or LHP Schoolcraft.
ReplyDeleteI am firmly anchored in the Schoolcraft line. IMO he has the highest ceiling in the draft, maybe equal to Seth Hernandez but if I had the 1-1 pick I would take Schoolcraft.
DeleteI saw some footage of Schoolcraft. He does have a high ceiling. I couldn't tell by the selected footage but I read that there was some concern about Schoolcraft being a tall pitcher (repeating his mechanics). He is a two way player who can play 1B and the pitching is ahead of the hitting. He has a commitment to Tennessee so whoever drafts him will have to pay up.
DeleteI like Brendan Summerhill (OF-U Arizona). He seems to be a good hitter and possesses above average speed. His power is not fully developed and tends to be overaggressive but most of the other aspects of his game are above average.
Delete3 weeks till draft ? I hope a catcher goes # one. And fast track them.

ReplyDeleteSeems like a lot of SS projected around our pick. We also have a ton of middle infielders. Seems like we need to reload OF and pitching is always good. Especially if younger.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of SS projected in the first round and, as you mention, a lot to fall to the Giants at #13. One school of thought is to have them move down the defensive spectrum if necessary. There is a need for OF and SP. The MLB draft is harder to project than NFL or NBA drafts because of multiple positions, college commitments, and because MLB prospects are less of a sure thing to make the big leagues.
DeleteThe key to the draft is going to be the revamped front office. The past few years, there was a tendency for the Giants to draft head scratchers such as Bednar and Reggie Crawford. They replenished their scouting department with scouts who are skilled in both old school and analytics so I more confident that they will have reviewed all the footage, done their homework, and that the pick will make sense. There is pressure to get that first pick right because they lost the second and fifth round picks because they signed Adames.
