  1. I notice that of the 117 teams in the Minors' "A Systems" the Richmond franchise is next to last in W-L pct (116th). What the heck is wrong with the Squirrels, year after year? Park layout? Lighting? Admin? Coaching? SFG organizational mis-app? Nice to have a team out East, but seems every year is a tough slog. K.L.

    1. AA Eastern League really is a black hole for Giants prospects. One thing I find interesting is their best and most successful prospect of the last 20 years, Buster Posey, skipped it altogether. Was that intended? What does that say about Buster's stated philosophy that prospects should master each level before moving up?

    2. I don't think it says too much about Buster or his philosophy. Buster was kind of special case. Not sure why he skipped AA. Maybe Sabean wanted to keep an eye on him on the West Coast. Regardless, it's pretty clear by his performance at AAA, he didn't need it.

    1. Cumming seemed to be on some sort of fast track a couple of years ago. Wonder what happened?

  3. Susan slusser tweeted that Giants just promoted Bryce Eldridge to AAA Sacramento. Sorry Steve (VA) I know its disappointing for Richmond fans when a top prospect is called up. I remember when the pirates called up Barry Bonds from their AAA team here in Hawaii. At least the instructors like Snow and Wotus will have easier access to help Eldridge with his D. Who knows we may be on Eldridge watch later this season. Don't want them to rush Eldridge though. Give him at least 200 abs in AAA and go from there.

In today's game, Victor Bericota leads the team with .313 BA and 1.014 OPS but he hit into a double play in the top of the 1st.
The rest of the batting averages are much like the Giants:
.275/.717,.250/.618,.201/.574, and the 5 others are all below .200/.600

Bryce Eldridge isn't playing — did he move up to Sacramento? Their "Latest Transactions" doesn't indicate.
    BUT McCovey says YES!
