"When the Giants Come to Town..." is my blog intended to chronicle my thoughts on San Francisco Giants baseball. My special interest is in prospects and the farm system, but of course, will comment on all aspects of the San Francisco Giants. I will also comment on baseball in general, particularly from a fantasy baseball perspective. I hope you will find the site informative, and invite you to join in the discussion.

DrB's 2020 Giants Top 50 Prospects: #45 Dilan Rosario
Dilan Rosario SS. DOB: 6/16/2001. B-R, T-R. 6'0", 175 lbs.
Rookie(AZL): .214/.254/.364, 9 2B, 2 3B, 5 HR, 9 SB, 5.5 BB%, 35.8 K%, 201 PA.
Dilan Rosario is pretty much the definition of a "lottery ticket" player. Very toolsy but very raw. Drafted out of HS(Puerto Rico) in the 6'th round. His loudest tools are speed(6.4 sec 60 yd dash) and power. Struggled to field balls cleanly in his pro debut which led to rushed throws than went awry. He also struggled to make contact, but when he did, he managed to do serious damage(16 of his 40 hits went for extra bases).
I'll guess Rosario stays back in camp and comes out back in rookie ball or in Salem-Keizer. There is a high ceiling here, but a whole lot of bust potential too, a real project for the new player development regime. The Giants have not had a lot of success with this type of player in the past.
