Solo home runs by Nate Furman and Buddy Kennedy helped the Giants lineup overcome a rough appearance by Carson Whisenhunt. Key Lines:
Jesus Rodriguez 2B/LF- 1 for 4, BB. BA= .182. I'm not sure the Giants actually have a plan for Jesus Rodriguez.
Parks Harber 3B- 1 for 3, 2B, R, RBI. BA= .364. Harber is quietly having a nice spring.
Nate Furman 2B- 1 for 2, HR(1), R, RBI. BA= .300. Another under-the-radar nice spring.
Christian Koss SS- 1 for 2, 2 RBI. Singles can do a lot of damage with RISP.
Buddy Kennedy DH- 1 for 3, HR(1), BB, 2 R, RBI. BA= .167. Signed over the winter as organizational depth. Fun Fact: Buddy is the grandson of former MLB player Don Money.
Landen Roupp RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 0.00. Roupp makes his second spring appearance and first start.
Carson Whisenhunt LHP- 1.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 30.38. No bueno! Second disaster appearance in a row leaves The Whiz's short term future cloudy.
The Giants play Team USA today in Scottsdale today with Adrian Houser RHP making his second spring start.
Dollars to donuts Jesus Rodriguez is heading back to AAA to continue developing as a potential MLB full time catcher, and see if he can't add some additional doubles power in that swing. Almost certainly Haase and Susac have a heavy lead on him for the backup position.
ReplyDeleteI think Jesus is a project that was expected to take at least 1 full year to develop before throwing him out there onto the field.
