"When the Giants Come to Town..." is my blog intended to chronicle my thoughts on San Francisco Giants baseball. My special interest is in prospects and the farm system, but of course, will comment on all aspects of the San Francisco Giants. I will also comment on baseball in general, particularly from a fantasy baseball perspective. I hope you will find the site informative, and invite you to join in the discussion.

Scouting the 2020 Draft: Masyn Winn
Masyn Winn RHP/SS, HS. B-R, T-R. 5'11", 180 lbs.
Wow! Wasn't expecting much when I saw Masyn Winn listed as a RHP and his size on the Fangraphs list, but he's a legitimate 5-tool and 2-way player who has the athleticism to play SS, bat speed to generate 95 MPH exit velocities and an electric throwing arm that produces FB's up to 98 MPH and 95 MPH IF throws. Add in a 6.51 60 yard dash and you have a base-stealing threat. He's already got a lot of muscle on his frame so has limited projectabiliby, but how much projectabiliy do you need if the present is this great? Committed to Arkansas and may want to go to school to postpone his choice between playing a position and pitching. Could also rise to mid-late first round on draft boards if he continues to show this kind of velocity in his HS games. It's also possible that new roster rules will lead some teams to aggressively draft and develop 2-way players so maybe he does not have to go to school to develop both skills.
