Donovan Solano hit 2 solo HR's but got little support from the rest of the lineup and Tyler Beede got a Coors Field roughing up as the Giants dropped the rubber game of the 9-game road trip. Key Lines:
Donovan Solano SS- 2 for 4, 2 HR(4). BA= .343. Solano's previous career high BA was his rookie season of 2012 at .295. The 2 HR's today gave him a career high topping 3 in 2013 and 2014.
Tyler Beede RHP- 3.2 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 5.38. It was Coors Field but Beede has given up 13 ER in 14.1 IP over his last 3 Starts.
Jandel Gustave RHP- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K. ERA= 0.00. Gustave has 1 BB and 0 K's in both of his 2-inning appearances. His FB has averaged 97.1 MPH with an above average spin rate.
Sam Selman LHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K. ERA= 6.00. Baby steps for Sam Selman.

Despite the Loss, the Giants remain 2.5 games behind in the Wild Card race trailing the Nationals and Phillies who just happen to be the next two teams they play.

The Giants return to SF after a loooong road trip to face the Nationals in the first series with Jeff Samardzija going against Erick Fedde in game 1 tonight. It is tough to foresee them gaining ground on their Wild Card rivals unless they win the games Shark and Bummy start.
with the struggles to the starting rotation, zaidi may want to look for reinforcements on the waiver wire or try gustave as an opener. i think it could be time to give the opener a second chance at this rate.
ReplyDeleteNot sure we have enough left in The Core for a Deep Run, many Fans may regret not moving Bum and Smith at the Deadline. Still Z is making incremental upgrades to the Team he inherited.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt Zaidi is watching for anything that can throw a baseball over the plate without a screen in front of him:
ReplyDeleteGiants, Carlos Torres Agree To Minor League Deal...
Solano's success shouldn't be a huge surprise -- he has good-to-very-good AAA numbers for the last 4 years, but he made the mistakes of signing up first with the Yankees and last year with the Dodgers: No Room at that Inn.
ReplyDeleteHe lucked out when Panik hit the wall offensively or he'd still be raking in AAA.
Is Panik done as a Giant?
