Fitz is pouring it on, last 4 games (half in Sacramento) he's 8-18.
ReplyDeleteWhen you're hot, you're hot, but free swinging works in the minor leagues, not against MLB pitchers: even in this 18 AB spree he struck out 6 times.
It seems he has adjusted his swing: among his 8 hits there is one HR and one 2B, but he's striking out more than 30%.
When he was sent down, in his last 72 PAs, he struck out at a 36% rate.
Doesn't he HAVE to improve here?
Not necessarily. There’s a lot of power hitters in MLB that strike out a lot. In fact, there’s a lot of productive players in MLB that strike out a lot period. Fitz has always had good power and speed numbers in the minors, the question was always would it translate to MLB? The biggest issue with him is that he’s 27 years old about to turn 28 years old in a month. He’s not a young prospect so the future is now with him. Was hoping he would be good with the giants this year but not surprised he has had a sophomore slump. Still, I wouldn’t give up on him just yet if I were the giants. They still have him under team control so I would expect him to be in the mix as long as he performs well in AAA.
DeleteShockingly weak return for Doval this afternoon. It appears the league saw pretty much what we have seen, and Buster wasn't willing to see if he might get more over the winter.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the team can re-sign Rodgers this winter as well. I'd like to see him close out his career as a Giant.
