Webb is a solid 6'2" and listed at 220 lbs. He is stocky with an easy delivery. His fastball was sitting at 92-93 for his 4 innings of work and he threw mostly fastballs with an occasional off speed pitch. It seemed at times he just could not find the plate, as he issued several 4 pitch walks. He is still obviously on a pitch count. There were some hard hit balls off him and the Rawhide helped out with some bad base running decisions. Domenic Mazza is a crafty lefthander. He reached all of 85 with his fastball. Rodolfo Martinez is an intimidating pitcher with a full beard and bit of the Crazy Al demeanor. He allowed the first two batters to get on base, and then got two fly balls and a strike out to end it. He was hitting 95 with his fastball. Quinn was fooled badly on a couple of off speed pitches, swinging at balls in the dirt. John Riley had the big hit with a 2-run double down the third base line. Can he stay on the field?
His MLB Scouting grades are interesting: Hit: 45 | Power: 55 | Run: 50 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 45
Seems from his minor league record, hitting is what he does best and gets a sub-average grade (45) there, but has "average" running (50) but he's only stolen 5 bases in 176 games -- take out the disaster 2017 and his OBP is .421 -- there's a lot of opportunity to steal but either he can't or "they" don't let him.
He should move up to AA and Richmond could use a real hitter.
They have Jebavy (.180), Lipka (.235), and Davis (.248) averaging 67 games apiece, and Luigi (.344) another 62 -- Quinn's A & A+ record is much better than Rodriguez.
FREE HEATH QUINN!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-53026752274273874082018-06-30T09:17:27.450-07:002018-06-30T09:17:27.450-07:00Quinn's big challenges are 1. He does not have options and has pitched pretty well, especially lately. I think Suarez jumped ahead of Stratton with last night's start. Very interested in what Young Dereck will do tonight. If I had to bet right now, I would say the post-All-Star rotation will be Bum, Cueto, Shark, Holland and Suarez with Stratton and DRod going to Sacramento to preserve depth.

I think Krukow calls submariners "submaweenies." I'd like to see Rogers get a chance to see if that extreme groundball approach works in the majors as a middle inning reliever. I would not trust it in a high leverage situation out of the gate, though. I think it's good to have different looks out of the pen so 1 of those is probably a good thing. 2 or 3, not so much. Bottom line though is you want your 7 or 8 most effective relievers on regardless of their style.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-21634154290655247412018-06-30T09:06:00.170-07:002018-06-30T09:06:00.170-07:00Law: Nice to see him bouncing back.

Add it good speed and a RF arm... I'm somewhat bullish on his chances and am hoping he gets a AA promotion soon.MosesZDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12702323080585738748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-41819951208341589162018-06-30T08:50:30.552-07:002018-06-30T08:50:30.552-07:00Cueto threw 69 pitches, which was "close enou...Cueto threw 69 pitches, which was "close enough" to the desired 70 that he didn't go back out for his 5th inning.
BB may have created a conundrum when he said that he wanted to see Shark pitch "more" innings in a start, get up-and-down and begin more innings after sitting.
Will he apply that to Cueto?

Tyler Rogers has been very good all season, with 2 of 31 appearances being not so good, 1 this month when his control deserted him in New Orleans -- too many beignets?

Giants had a lot of success with side arming Javier López, but Rogers is a true submariner, his hand is just off the ground. I know the Giants don't want to pay Gearing to not be on the team - but he's pitched 4 innings this entire month (shows how many close games we have played). Reyes/Watson/Smith/Dyson were getting way over worked with the SPs going 5 innings every night and the other guys in the pen only being allowed to pitched in mop up duty (only thing they can be trusted with).

It helps that the SP are finally going deeper in games, just feels like a waste to have guys you can't pitch when you have a lead. Blach has sort of helped to that end, pitched with a lead and held it (until most recent outing) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
