  1. Cam Maldonado on his way to Eugene?

  2. Jatczak has shown good command of the strike zone. More base on balls than strike outs. Patient hitter, doesn't expand his strike zone or chase after pitches.
He is a little old for A ball. I could see promoting him by June.

  3. Both Whiz and McDonal d(I think Lonsway also) had good outings last time out..Can they keep it up and find consistency?

BEDNAR, along with CHOATE, has been a darn good reliever for Richmond this. Hopefully there is hope!

  4. Report from Visalia: It was Character Counts Day at the ballpark and there were hundreds of kiddos in attendance. The game started at 11:00 a.m. Keyner Martinez was sitting at 94 MPH with his fastball and occasionally hit 95 and 96 MPH. He also had some effective off-speed pitches in the mid 80's. As seen from his line, he needs to work on his control. Too many of his balls were way off the mark, making them easy takes for the batters. The two runs that scored off him began with inning opening walks. The first run should have been unearned, as a ground ball up the middle went right under the second baseman's glove as he tried to do a back-handed stab at it. If he had fielded it cleanly, I think he would have gotten the runner at first. Jeremiah Jenkins has good size, but is a bit slow, as is Jatczak.
The Giants loaded the bases in the second inning with no outs and the next two batters hit balls right back to the pitcher, forcing the runner at home and then Level struck out. He redeemed himself by hitting a 2 run single with the bases loaded in the sixth inning. Bower was sitting at 93 MPH with his fastball and had some effective off-speed pitches. APGiantsfan
