All of the Giants rookie league teams were idle.
Richmond Flying Squirrels: too bad 3 of the 4 HRs were solo shots...
ReplyDeleteRe Carlos Gutierrez: MLB.com & B-R shows him at 174 pounds — is he that "slight"? His only "weakness" (term used advisedly) is his power output with just 3 HRs in 324 PAs. Will he build up strength as he "matures"?
ReplyDeleteIs it common that Mexican players are placed in the DSL?
174 is not that slight for 5'10". In person he looks like a well-proportioned athlete who has some room for add strength.
DeleteThat was a brutal loss for the River Cats. They had a 2-1 lead and 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th but couldn't get the 3rd out. Newly promoted Trent Harris, after an excellent showing in Richmond, got close before the roof caved in.
ReplyDeleteFrom his 1.69 ERA for the Squirrels, he starts AAA with 40.50!
Eldridge hit a granny tonight. 5 RBI. Hope he gets here soon.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer that they not rush Eldridge and make sure he feels comfortable on defense before considering promotion.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking of all those strikeouts in spring training.
