"When the Giants Come to Town..." is my blog intended to chronicle my thoughts on San Francisco Giants baseball. My special interest is in prospects and the farm system, but of course, will comment on all aspects of the San Francisco Giants. I will also comment on baseball in general, particularly from a fantasy baseball perspective. I hope you will find the site informative, and invite you to join in the discussion.

Scouting the 2015 Draft: Joe DeMers
Joe DeMers is a 6'2", 235 lbs HS RHP out of Pleasant Hill, CA. He had been on draft radar screens for some time, but made headlines yesterday by firing a perfect game against a strong opponent. His arsenal includes both a 4 seam and 2 seam FB with average curve that sit 91-93. He has hit 97 MPH while pitching in relief. He has an average curve, slider and change. He is known for his command. No projection in the body. He was not listed in BA's early top 50 draft prospects, but Kiley McDaniel of Fangraphs had him at #43. His college commit is to Washington. He is probably singable for second round money.
First no-hitter (& perfecto) of his career. Interestingly enough, he only had 5 K in that game. Must have been a ground ball machine. Either Baseball America or Maxpreps has DeMers' College Park team ranked #1 in the entire country.
