AAA Round Rock Express edged the Fresno Grizzlies 7-6 in 10 innings:
Tyler Graham- 3 for 5. BA= .350.
Jesus Guzman- 2 for 5, 2B. BA= .309.
Brett Pill- 2 for 5, HR(13). BA= .274.
AA New Hampshire Fisher Cats shut out the Richmond Flying Squirrels 9-0:
Oh my goodness! Nothing to see here, unless it's Tyler LaTorre pitching two scoreless innings in mop up action.
HIgh A San Jose Giants edged the Stockton Ports 5-4:
Juan Perez- 3 for 3, 2B, HR(9), BB. BA= .298.
Justin Fitzgerald- 6 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 8 K's. ERA= 3.65.
Danny Otero- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K's. ERA=0.00.
Jason Stoffel- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 5.13.
Juan Perez would seem to have propelled himself into serious prospect status with his performance this year. Danny Otero makes it back to the Cal League, from TJ surgery I presume?
Low A Charleston River Dogs pounded the Augusta Greenjackets 8-2:
Nick Liles- 2 for 3, 2B, BB, SB(23). BA= .317.
Tommy Joseph- 1 for 2, BB. BA= .231.
Hector Sanchez- 2 for 4. BA= .288.
Nick Liles is really having a nice season, it's just that it's one level too low!
Short Season Salem-Keizer Volcanoes smacked buried the Spokane Indians 7-1:
Chris Lofton- 2 for 4, HR(1), BB, 2 SB(11). BA= .280.
Dan Brock- 2 for 5, HR(3). BA= .254.
Raynor Campbell- 2 for 3, HR(2), BB. BA= .254.
Taylor Rogers- 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 3.71.
Stephen Harrold- 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(3). ERA= 4.76.
Chris Lofton is looking like a dynamic player for the Volcanoes. Maybe we will see him in San Jose next year? Harrold has 13 K's in 11.1 IP, with S-K.
Rookie AZL Rangers drubbed the Giants 9-3:
Carlos Willoughby- 4 for 5, 2B, 2 SB(19). BA= .299.
Charlie Jones- 2 for 4. BA= .272.
Rafael Rodriguez- 2 for 4. BA= .281.
Dontrelle Willis- 0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K. ERA= 0.00.
Devin Kline- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 0.00.
Reese McCulley- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 0.00.
What a line for Willoughby! Sometimes you find exciting things in box scores that don't look very promising. I would say Dontrelle Willis is not ready for promotion to AAA yet. They might make a movie out of Reese McCulley's story someday He's appeared in 4 games, pitched 3 innings and allowed 2 BB's and 6 K's.
DSL Giants topped the Cubs 5-1 in a 7 inning game:
Leonardo Fuentes- 1 for 2, BB. BA= .253.
Luis Angeles- 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 12 K's. ERA= 2.04
Marvin Barrios- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 2.16.
Whoa! Where did all those K's come for Angeles? He only had 33 K's in 55.2 IP prior to this game.
What was the story with Perez's experiment at 2B last season? Did he has a history there, or were they just hoping to score at a position of need? Seeing as he has not played there this year, I am guessing that he did not perform (defensively) very well there...
