Mike Trout is going to do what is best for Mike Trout and a few $hundred K's is not going to significantly alter the dynamics. The biggest difference between Trout and Bumgarner is that pitchers have to be more aware of the possibility of career ending injury so they might tend to favor the security of a long term deal over maximizing their yearly income.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-89202821245592944292013-03-03T15:39:51.405-08:002013-03-03T15:39:51.405-08:00obsessive,

I don't recall what type of salary he got relative to before, so maybe he got some sort of raise.

Of course, we now know that he signed long-term with us INTO his free agency years at a very reasonable contract.

Also of course, everybody is different. Now that I know more about Madison's background growing up, I can see now why he might have let that slide. Trout is undoubtedly not the same situation. That said, again, I didn't think Madison would sign after he got his contract handed to him by the Giants.

It will be interesting to see how mature and responsible and professional Trout will be in 2013 due to this slap to the face.

But I thought last season was his first season, so he won't be eligible for arbitration until 2015 or after the 2014 season, if that is what you mean by "come 14". obsessivegiantscompulsivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11362706004246875823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-31742028413924317672013-03-02T22:48:52.740-08:002013-03-02T22:48:52.740-08:00Well, I wouldn't write of Trout for the Angels...Well, I wouldn't write of Trout for the Angels quite yet. Time and money heals most wounds. It does seem to be a bit of a slap in the face to Trout, though.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-35958672881997749412013-03-02T22:47:25.343-08:002013-03-02T22:47:25.343-08:00Thank you for the report.
