Even including them, he has a 3.79 ERA since taking over the starter's spot for Peavy, and 3.00 ERA over his last 8 starts.

If anyone should go, it would be Hudson. Baggarly suggests that the Giants probably could find a reason to DL Hudson once Cain or Peavy is ready.

Frankly, it was announced early that Peavy is not going to be 100% this season, that the goal was to get him pitching. Why not throw him into the Vogie long relief role, except use him in set-up situations to soak up innings that Kontos, Romo, and Casilla has been taking? That way, Vogie stays in a position where he has been probably the second best/steadiest of the starting pitching, Peavy is put in a spot where his health is not exposed in every start, and Peavy is not forcing his body to absorb innings when he's not 100% anyway. In which case, then you send down Strickland (assuming Broadway is sent down when Blanco is ready to return).

I would also be OK with Lincecum in a super-relief role as well, as another alternative way to open up a rotation spot for Peavy. I think there is a lot of ways to go, including sending Heston back down to AAA (though, they have not used an option on him yet for the season, so it would be better to keep him up than to use an option on him now).

And remember, Peavy had a QS against AAA and AAAA hitters. That he struck out only 5 batters is not encouraging to me, tied to him walking 2 batters as well. That is not a sign that he's ready to dominate in the majors and throw QS's. obsessivegiantscompulsivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11362706004246875823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-76735248529429560412015-06-17T14:02:53.063-07:002015-06-17T14:02:53.063-07:00... and just to make the question more interesting...... and just to make the question more interesting, Sabean was reportedly at a couple of Reds games scouting (in theory) Cueto, Leake, and/or Chapman. I don't think they'll miss signing the guys they really want - Bickford, Mac Marshall, et al - and if that's the case, seems like this was another great draft for the Giants that has the potential to yield really exciting characters into our minors lines!

Thanks for the work Doc. Jalen (Jay-lin?) was the biggest signability question IMO, and it's fantastic that they've got it done. In my book, that's a potential 1st round kid; they got two big hit tools along with a top-level arm in a single draft. Art.

PS - Jalen Miller is a great baseball name!Rainballnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-53812954165318960202015-06-17T09:55:32.807-07:002015-06-17T09:55:32.807-07:00Ken Correia was picked up by the Phillies and is p...Ken Correia was picked up by the Phillies and is pitching tonight.
