Toronto, on their way from a game ...How about this:<br />Toronto, on their way from a game Wednesday in Minnesota to a game today (Friday) in Tampa, played a double header in Cleveland!<br />First game went 11 innings in 4:47, second 3:11. Back-to-back games, 19,007 fans. Big Joe Biagini got bombed in the second game when he was called up expressly to pitch this game! <br />In addition to the doubleheader, Toronto plays 21 games in 20 consecutive days!<br />Cleveland fares a little better with 18 games in 17 days plus they got to stay home for the DH but travel to NY today.<br />The teams have brought this on themselves in pursuit of beacoup $$ -- they could cut the schedule back to 154 games but that would be fewer butts in the seats, i.e., less $$.<br />The schedule was expanded in 1962 to maintain balance when the leagues went from 8 to 10 teams. There is no longer any semblance of balance because of the $$ benefit of interleague play.<br />No wonder there are so many injuries.
