The little Giants did not have any hard hit balls. Each of their hits was either a bloop in front of the outfield or a seeing-eye single through the infield. They had a couple of chances in the early innings with runners in scoring position, but AnVill and Daniel Carbonell came up short respectively.

Irvine was signed out of Independent ball by the Diamondbacks on August 28th. Apparently, he did not pitch last year, but before that he was in Independent ball. This year he pitched for the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic Pro Independent League. His fastball was consistently 92 MPH on the corners and toward the end he hit 93 a time or two. His off-speed stuff was also effective, as there were an awful lot of swings and misses by the little Giants. He will be 27 in December. I figure this is cosmic compensation for the little Giants leaving Fred Lewis on the roster during the Cal League playoffs years ago.

Christian Jones was consistently 90 MPH with his fastball. It tailed off to 88 & 89 in the 5th inning. The run given up by Tyler Rogers was the result of the hardest ball hit all night, a drive to deep center that Seth Harrison had a play on, but missed. The run scored on a dribbler through the drawn in infield that Christian Arroyo just missed. Ian Gardeck was throwing gas, hitting 95 MPH a time or two and consistent at 92 & 93.
