Especially Cole who has played 5 different positions with the Giants in his two years with the club.

Furthermore, Slater and Cole are not on the 40-man roster and the Giants would have fill the one open spot (they're at 39 right now) with of them, send down someone with options or DFA someone to open up a spot. Meanwhile Lollis & Parker are on the 40-man roster, hitting just as well right now, and can be moved up-and-down with no risk while leaving the club with maneuvering room for trades (like Utley) or poaching someone else's DFA.

So it just, to me, makes a lot of sense to bring up Lollis or Parker to rot on the bench because even if Cole and Slater have higher ceilings (which is not yet established with any certainty) there are more considerations (such as getting reps to Cole and Slater to keep their development proceeding as fast as possible) to the organization that who has the hot-bat in AA ball.MosesZDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12702323080585738748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-61669580201929944812015-08-13T10:49:38.661-07:002015-08-13T10:49:38.661-07:00I don't think Lollis or Parker will contribute...I don't think Lollis or Parker will contribute very much. I would almost rather take a risk similar to last year's Matt Duffy and call up either Hunter Cole or Austin Slater from AA. These guys can flat out hit. Both tearing up a pitcher friendly Eastern League. I hardly doubt they would do any worse that Lollis or Parker and they actually have a future with the Giants. Lollis and Parker are 28 and 26 respectively and are mostly AAA organizational filler at this point whereas Cole and Slater are 22 and real prospects.Rogerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15112223964736652123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-47027934829381594552015-08-13T09:08:14.656-07:002015-08-13T09:08:14.656-07:00I just noticed that my spell checker can't spe...I just noticed that my spell checker can't spell tendinitis. How embarrassing. Pagan's finally on the DL and has been hurt all, in one fashion or another, for most of the year.

I think the Giants are going to have to either call up Lollis or Parker for 5th OFer or cut short Susac's rehab and shift Belt to LF with Posey at 1B. If I had to guess which was more likely, I'd say Belt to LF with Susac coming back to the club this weekend. MosesZDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12702323080585738748noreply@blogger.com
