The Giants have such a strong presence in understanding the players who have been undervalued and simultaneously have premier pedigree. Really love that strategy, particularly since the Giants have had too much success over the last 6 years to be able to grab "consensus" top-10 picks due to drafting order.

Getting guys like Beede, Shaw, and Arroyo (maybe Bickford falls into that category, too) is just an incredible coup. Hopefully, Quinn/Reynolds/Brusa may prove to be a triplet in the same mould from this year's draft, which I thought was excellent (seeing as I'm also, have always been, and still am a huge fan of the Samardzija signing).RainBallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00725941337502884436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-29161817408976294912016-08-30T08:14:30.670-07:002016-08-30T08:14:30.670-07:00I don't expect to see Beede in SF this year, b...I don't expect to see Beede in SF this year, but you never know. He finished the minor league season strong.

Speaking of which, over his last 6 starts, Beede posted a 1.58 ERA with 49 K's in 39.2 IP.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-61795078563181620472016-08-30T08:00:53.759-07:002016-08-30T08:00:53.759-07:00Thanks for the Beede write-up. Or maybe even as a spot starter. (I have my doubts, but I'm curious to what you think.)MosesZDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12702323080585738748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-90153160564927133052016-08-30T07:57:46.466-07:002016-08-30T07:57:46.466-07:00I expect Beede to start next season in Sacramento ...I expect Beede to start next season in Sacramento with a possible midseason callup sometime during the season when a need arises at the MLB level.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-29275966432776052782016-08-30T07:55:51.092-07:002016-08-30T07:55:51.092-07:00Thanks, Rainball. Schwarber initially made that look like a great call by the Cubs, but they might wish they had drafted Beede now.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-42500140087811261942016-08-30T07:52:08.468-07:002016-08-30T07:52:08.468-07:00Wow, what a day for Beede and the Giants. I remember when he was drafted - and correct me if I'm wrong, but the knock was an inability to control his stuff, and diminishing velocity that seemed to portend towards low 90's FBs in the future.

Well, this game made a statement for what The Giants and Beede have done, and the risk/reward the Giants saw in Beede when drafting him down in the first round. Keep it going kid.

Thanks for the write-up Doc, and the running storyline on Tyler Beede all year.
