These injuries are a likely sign that the increase in the number of games being played each year, in addition to the higher physical level - foot speed, power, velocity, overall strength - is finally rearing its head in the degree and frequency of serious non-contact injuries.

I donno, I wasn't around in the 80's and 70's (when the game was already speeding up) but perhaps there's a chart somewhere depicting the rate of serious injuries over the decades. That would be a FASCINATING report, whether it showed positive, negative or neutral trending. Susac and Williamson were the big hitters I was looking forward to following this year, and a year absence due to injury always seems to cool the jets of a prospect. I have still very high hopes for Susac, and Williamson...jeez, what was his injury anyways? Tommy John, right? Looks like they could both use another year before knowing what we have, but I still believe the ceiling for both is strong.RainBallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00725941337502884436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-14556864409715701822014-06-13T10:12:39.195-07:002014-06-13T10:12:39.195-07:00Good outing from Hembree..With things not looking ...Good outing from Hembree..With things not looking good for Law (now it's the elbow)....Hembree and Runzler (who has pitched real well) are the guys that will probably be in SF for injury or depth..Hope they keep up the solid performances.....

I think the law of averages caught up with Giant prospect this year...had been pretty much smooth sailing injury wise but this year you have top pitching prospects like Law, Blackburn, Agosta, Gregorio and others being shelved.. as well as top 10 hitting prospects Williamson, Arroyo, Susac (in and out)..Hope we see these guys in th 2nd half...

SteveVAAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
