Seems to put pitchers out of sync when they try something new.

I agree that the beats are talking about Duggar (Dougar, not Dug-gar, as the announcers were saying) going to AAA to start the season. Though Schulman tweeted this morning that Duggar is still "very much in consideration to be the starting CF." Not sure if that is them saying based on what insiders have been intimating or from their gut.

But I don't know what more Duggar could have done so far to win the competition. Schulman noted that with the Giants seeing more top-line starters and relievers now, Duggar will see stiffer pitching than he had before, and that his homer against Buchter "certainly helped his cause." The surprise for me is that there is zero talk about him being the front-runner right now, from the beats, which suggests that front office is still on the fence and hence why the beats note that he's likely to end up in AAA. I guess I'm hyped on Duggar right now, and think he'll pull it off and get the starting spot.

Yeah, I would put Stratton in the #4 spot, but the talk I've seen so far is that the thought is that Blach would get the #4 call with the #5 skipped to allow Bumgarner to pitch 3 times in first 9 games, twice against Dodgers, as this would also allow the #4 starter to face Dodgers too. I still believe in Stratton a lot more than Blach right now.

Regarding Osich and Okert, Okert should have one more option, but I'm not sure that Osich does, he's been in the majors for three seasons now, when do a player get a 4th option? Plus, Osich has much more MLB experience and his much older, Giants getting to the point where they fish or cut bait with him (I still like him, but I've liked others that they then cut...), and the Giants will need a 40-man spot if Blanco (either one) makes the team or Duggar for that matter (could be a reason why the Giants send him down to AAA, come to think...). Not sure who is next, but each cut could hurt, I think. obsessivegiantscompulsivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11362706004246875823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-79880224004166238592018-03-13T05:14:39.540-07:002018-03-13T05:14:39.540-07:00Okert was a numbers game, not a failure.
