There are a bunch of bonus babies he's there with: Boyd, Allie, Murphy, Nick Williams, Gallo, Elander, Plawecki, Josh Bell. They'll fly on quick, he'll have to grind out.

Maybe in a couple of years with Arroyo/Jones/Gustavo/Javier we'll have some hitting prospects in the Sally.Shankbonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04803824507120403397noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-9458430006739086362013-07-15T07:49:04.886-07:002013-07-15T07:49:04.886-07:00Totally agree that he's a one level at a time ...Totally agree that he's a one level at a time kind.

Let's take a look at the past for .408 OBP who are Matt's age in SALLY, or so. Shawn Payne was similar in 2012, .413 OBP, almost same SLG. Dave Freitas had .409 and almost same SLG in 2011, he had a nice season in 2012, but pretty bad 2013 so far. Nobody profiled that close in 2010 or 2009, Chase d-Arnaud was the closest, he had a nice run getting promoted to Advanced A in the same season in 2009, but never did much of anything in the minors after that, though he did made the majors in 2011, only he didn't do that well. Brock Bond profiled the closest in 2008, though not as good overall, and we know what has happened to him. Jason Donald was the closes in 2007, very close, plus he's a SS too. He got promoted to Advanced A that season, did well there too, but struggled as he rose, though got enough tries in AAA to hit OK (for the league), and make the majors, where he was an so-so hitter, utility IF.

The recent history of prospects who had similar numbers at the same age is not sparkling with great outcomes so far. Bond is the only one who kept up the high OBP as he rose, but the Giants never thought enough of him to bring him to the majors, nor did any team thought enough of him to steal him from the Giants via the Rule 5 draft in the off-season. So Matt has a tough road ahead of him in making the majors, though not impossible, hence why he'll probably have to prove out at each level before making the Giants. obsessivegiantscompulsivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11362706004246875823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-20599101555477124412013-07-15T06:07:53.197-07:002013-07-15T06:07:53.197-07:00Top 25 might be a bit rich, but his numbers defini...Top 25 might be a bit rich, but his numbers definitely have my attention.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-69466817045843692492013-07-15T06:07:11.020-07:002013-07-15T06:07:11.020-07:00I see Duffy as more of a 1 level at a time kind of...I see Duffy as more of a 1 level at a time kind of prospect.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-73802555607219900442013-07-15T05:09:50.099-07:002013-07-15T05:09:50.099-07:00I, too, am intrigued by Matt Duffy - and have been...I, too, am intrigued by Matt Duffy - and have been for awhile.
