Has a big curve and is working on sharper one as well. I'd rate his curve average with potential to be above average (I haven't seen anyone put good wood on it all season). Also has a slider when it is on is average to above average. 4 pitches with 2-3 projecting at average to above average. Hit his stride at Augusta as a starter/reliever - 5-0 1.76 ERA - Also had a dominating 12 K performance that I saw where all his pitches were on especially the offspeed stuff! Has Ty Blach type talent in my bookAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-25356644609567767372013-06-28T16:14:17.352-07:002013-06-28T16:14:17.352-07:00Eric Surkamp comes off the 60 day DL and is assign...Eric Surkamp comes off the 60 day DL and is assigned to Fresno.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-20852842834680650422013-06-28T16:07:29.411-07:002013-06-28T16:07:29.411-07:00The Giants started Alderson out in San Jose in 200...The Giants started Alderson out in San Jose in 2008. I could see him sustaining a .304/.360/.450 or so long term which would make him a pretty valuable player. It's the .600 SLG% I don't see him sustaining.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-43458155228691903872013-06-28T12:51:32.099-07:002013-06-28T12:51:32.099-07:00For one thing, I think Horan came from a relativel...For one thing, I think Horan came from a relatively small program. The Giants have tended to start smaller program guys out in Rookie ball. It also depends on availability of roster spots.

Crick's injury was an oblique strain. Those can be recurrent if not handled properly, but he was out a long time, so I would think the Giants made sure he was fully recovered before sending him back out there.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-52972427185291753332013-06-28T11:19:40.075-07:002013-06-28T11:19:40.075-07:00I think Crick and Susac have to be high up on the ...I think Crick and Susac have to be high up on the untouchable list. Cody Hall and Osich are going to start moving methinks, and that makes Hembree even easier trade bait.

Gary Brown is putting something together. Is he for real? I have spent too much of my time defending him in interwebz forums. I want to believe he's putting it together and maturing into a MLB ready guy. Gotta head the Boss on this, and if Sabean says Kieschnick and Brown aren't ready to face MLB pitching, that's the case. Its easy to forget that if Brown simply puts up 260/310/360 with his defense he's a valuable piece, in this offensively challenged environment. But if he does better he suddenly zooms up the ladder. These are the types of value plays the Giants have going on with their sleeper system.Shankbonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04803824507120403397noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-30696178140244282242013-06-28T11:13:15.321-07:002013-06-28T11:13:15.321-07:00He played at Cal, in the pen. That seems to be a primary reason to not like players, and the Giants seem to go after these types as a possible value play. Kurrasch is a crazy lefty, you can't trust those guys. He has a good frame, 6'2 205, (although he's apparently lost 2 inches on his milb profile, they have him listed at 6'0 even). He can get his fastball up to 92, sits high 80s/90. His out of the draft profile had him with a good change and a below average breaking ball, and a reliever label. Like a lot of lefties, he walks a lot of guys. To get a feel for him first before assigning to a seasonal league? If so, that would mean that they didn't really know him that well before drafting him, wouldn't it? I guess another reason is rehab if he was injured just prior to drafting, and thus the team needs to know where he is now.

That was a good game for Brown, no strikeouts! He had a strikeout each game for 9 straight games! And multiple K's in 4 of those games (and 5 of 12 games). But he had a 14 game hitting streak (and 17 of 18) prior to his two oh-fers just before this game, so hopefully he's continuing his good hitting mechanics, with this 3 hit game.

The more exciting thing about Crick: only one walk! Leading to a great 8:1 K/BB ratio. Yeah, the injury really took away a lot of time. Do you think we need to worry about his injury regarding his long-term health? Or is this a one-time thing? (I don't recall what he got shut down for, sorry) obsessivegiantscompulsivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11362706004246875823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-30455363265151170732013-06-28T08:14:31.090-07:002013-06-28T08:14:31.090-07:00What can you tell me about Joseph Kurrasch? He seems to be a lefty that gets good results, but do we know how hard he throws?

-ClintAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
