The Giants played a helluva lot of kids. I think that might be slowing down some now. And with winning, I think they can attract 1-2 savvy vets from time to time, and they can definitely trade for them as needed. You kiss a couple frogs like Guillen, Cabrera or SheaHill but you also get Burrell, Ross and Scutaro. I want another trade like Ellis Burks. Oh wait, you could call Pence a sort of Burks trade, if he steps up this year.

Love the shiny prospects, but production at the major league level is a whole nother ball game. He's also quite thin. Reminds me a bit of Johnny Lemaster! LOL!

Jurica hit well in college then struggled his first couple of years in the pros. If Jurica can field the position adequately, he just might hit well enough to play in MLB.

Then there is Travious Relaford as a nice sleeper/wild card. He appears to be very athletic with a high ceiling, but a long way to go to get there.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-79001074707086346292013-04-26T13:01:16.073-07:002013-04-26T13:01:16.073-07:00Gary Brown...That's why you sign Angel Pagan t...Gary Brown...That's why you sign Angel Pagan to a 4-year deal. Production at the major league level and in the WS is worth a lot.

Now, I hope Brown learns, adjusts and makes it to the Bigs. And yes, based upon his draft pedigree and early success, I was guilty of penciling him for 2013/14 CF on the Giants. But it's a good reminder that each level presents new challenges and the biggest leap is still ahead of him. I hope he learns to adjust because the natural talent tools he has, especially 80 speed, ain't looking too valuable right now.

Good thing the Giants are pretty stocked at the MLB level right now, as Sabes has pointed out you're really going to have to show something to get a ticket to 24 Willie Mays Plaza. I don't know anything about Tomlinson, but Jurica is on fire and he's still pretty young. Our OF also seemed to catch fire this year. Man, I always knew we had pitching but it looks like their position draftees are starting to catch up. Even recognizing minor ball is minor ball, bodes well for the future and managing payroll. I can't remember the farm being this stocked with the talent we also have at the main level.

PiLamBearAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-16156896962801525832013-04-26T08:43:31.487-07:002013-04-26T08:43:31.487-07:00Gary Brown is sporting a 79% contact rate so far, ...Gary Brown is sporting a 79% contact rate so far, that is below his career norms for sure. He hasn't been on base much (24 times to be exact) and has only attempted to run 4 times, getting thrown out 3 of them. He started slow last year and then heated up, maybe that will be the pattern again. But I have to question his focus a little. Maybe the pressure is getting to him right now, the immediacy of the majors and the fact he's in a dogfight competition with several qualified individuals.

I think the key lies in taking instruction and making adjustments. You always have to make adjustments as a pro hitter. Noonan re-worked everything and quietly made his move. Brown needs to do the same, so the Giants can broadcast that travel team trophy photo of the two of them some more.Shankbonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04803824507120403397noreply@blogger.com
