As long a Crawford and Panik continue to perform well the gate is closed for middle infield unless/until somebody gets traded or leaves via free agency. I think minor league free agency kicks in after 6 seasons, but I'm sure there are caveats as there always seem to be with baseball rules.

Tomlinson just has to keep playing and hope for an unexpected opening or a trade to an organization that has MI needs.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-8870861373975821622015-06-06T11:35:18.666-07:002015-06-06T11:35:18.666-07:00I read about the Beede outing. He had the first inning problem then I believe that he had a 4th inning bases-loaded jam in which he induced another DP to extricate himself.MosesZDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12702323080585738748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-67228055137627398462015-06-06T11:16:08.851-07:002015-06-06T11:16:08.851-07:00Personally I think this was a great debut from Bee...Personally I think this was a great debut from Beede in the Eastern. Get out of the first and goes to work. Beede should zoom prospect lists, not something that has happened lately, not that it matters much.

Joe Panik is slashing 311/383/454 - tied with Kolten Wong for 4th best OPS by a 2B in MLB. So I have to ask the question to all those ESPN snarky guys: does that look like a Utility Guy? I would chalk it up to arriving in NH late the night before and the juices flowing because it was his first AA start. He certainly seems to be everything we've heard, but as we well know, only time will tell.

Moreno was crazy last night! It was just one of those games where he could have hit a ping pong ball with a fungo bat with his eyes closed. The downside of Moreno right now seems to be his fielding. He's not that stellar.

DrB, I'm curious to know what your thoughts are about someone like Tomlinson who's having a great year, but as you said, seems to be stuck in RVA at this point because of the log jam at MI. What are his options? You have to feel for guys like him who get stuck in this hell-hole called the Eastern League. I love the Squirrels, and I'm glad they're in Richmond, but this league sucks as far as travel time and playing conditions are concerned. I'm not sure how Skyler Stromsmoe kept showing up here every year. I was glad to see him in Sacto. He certainly "did his time" in the EL.

When do minor leaguers become free agents? Is it after 5 years or 7 years?Nutz4RVAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00997800352962687317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-1903192795494983662015-06-06T08:42:09.711-07:002015-06-06T08:42:09.711-07:00adding equal excitement, Squirrels .500 for season...adding equal excitement, Squirrels .500 for season, amazing recovery on their way to a championship winAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-63438524449404070562015-06-06T08:29:08.403-07:002015-06-06T08:29:08.403-07:00AA - "anybody see this one?" watched on ...AA - "anybody see this one?" watched on MiLB, a question?

Beede was solid but not lights out, got dinged by a hit, had a wild hard throw to 1st that got wiped out by a next batter k and quick double play.
