Do they deal the guys who have already had success at the MLB level or do they deal the prospects? I don't think they want to emulate Billy Beane and churn players, but it might be interesting to see what they could get back for, say, Brandon Crawford now that his is starting to get expensive.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-13498590328867364002015-08-08T15:43:24.735-07:002015-08-08T15:43:24.735-07:00Would be interested to see Stratton as a September...Would be interested to see Stratton as a September call-up. He's pitched well in AAA despite having a losing record, but he's had 4 QS where he's given up 2 runs or less and has only a 0-1 record to show for it.. I read an encouraging article on MLB.com on Tyler Beede saying he could be ready for the show sometime in 2016..

LGAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7389427040394111033.post-68175247627892933652015-08-08T13:12:30.303-07:002015-08-08T13:12:30.303-07:00While there hasn't been much talk about him, A...While there hasn't been much talk about him, Austin Slater is really making some incredible progress in the minors.

He was a HS short-stop that went to college and played OF for Stanford. He was drafted in the 8th round as an OF by the Giants last year and that's where he played. However, he was too much of a tweener (not fast enough for CF, not enough power for the corners) so they moved him to the infield this year trying him as a SS and a 2B.

He wasn't so hot at SS, but since his conversion to 2B he's put up some remarkable work for someone who just made a position switch at such an advanced level of baseball. So far he's got a great fielding percentage. He's got a great range factor. And he's hitting very well in RIchmond, where BA's go to die. He's also made a strong move on the MLB prospect rankings, jumping from 29th to 18th in just half a season.

Now I'm not saying he's the next Joe Panik. But he's pretty fast-track. 2014 was short season and rookie league as an OF. 2015 he started at San Jose (SS/2B) and is already to Richmond (2B). And he's done it without missing a beat in the batter's box and is playing (so far) a pretty decent 2B from everything I've been able read.

Anyway, I thought it was very interesting to see someone fairly lightly regarded rocket up the MiLB levels while changing position. Most of the time that seems to be a recipe for complete disaster.MosesZDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12702323080585738748noreply@blogger.com
